I am a transgender artist and educator in New York City. I use she/they pronouns. I was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, a city known for its comedy and good food. I aspire to navigate my life from the moment I wake up to the moment I fall asleep with awareness and care, whether I am on the subway or on Broadway.
As a queer kid, I was resilient and smart, but I also struggled with deep depression. Dance saved my life. The somatic experience that came with dance training was the key to my joy and peace, and it still is.
I finished my B.A. in Dance and Theater from SUNY Empire State College during the pandemic. I am also a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher, trained at the Mindfulness Center at Brown University and NY Peer Support Provider with NYCPS-P.
I dedicate my performances, artistry, teaching, and everyday life to transgressing, widening perspectives, and decolonizing with as much compassion as I can muster.
I wiggle.
I meditate.
I speak.
